Heads up, everyone! The holiday rush is
upon us and everyone's preparing their biggest and best titles
- why can't they do that all the time?
First off, the entire Superman canon is
being re-released next week (the 28th) alongside the blockbuster
Superman Returns, so if you missed out the first time, here's
your second chance. Also coming is the acclaimed Clerks 2 and
the sequel to the hilarious Evening With Kevin Smith. Disney fans
can look forward to a new edition of the "foxy" (groan)
Robin Hood, as well.
Disney remains on top of the game next
month with the quick-turnaround release of Pirates: Dead Man's
Chest and quick on its heels is the 5th season of 24. December
will also see the releases of Talladega Nights, Oliver Stone's
World Trade Center, the smash hit The Devil Wears Prada, the extended
edtion of the Chronicles of Narnia, and the final two sets of
the new 007 Ultimate Collections. Finally, just barely making
the pre-Christmas mark are My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Lady in the
Water, A Scanner Darkly, The Wicker Man (how Christmasy!), season
9 of the Simpsons, and Jet Li's Fearless.
Boxing Day returns us to the current bare-bones
situation we've been seeing of late, but notable releases are
the acclaimed fright-fest The Descent, Jackass 2, and flash-in-the-pan
Dane Cook's Tourgasm (stand-up comedy).
Also with the release of the headline-making
PlayStation 3, you can expect the war between BluRay and HD-DVD
to really heat up in the near future. For you techie enthusiasts,
now's the time to keep your ear to the ground - the PS3 might
be the one thing that decides the winner of this war, but don't
hold your breath. It most certainly will, however, sway the scales
in Sony's (and partners) favor.
So it's arguably a busy month for movie
enthusiasts (and the holiday madness doesn't do us any favors),
but hopefully this will help you fill out your wish lists.
Cheers,
Brendon @ DVD Wave

Dearest friends and extended family, it
is unfortunate that I must announce that Hope
is going to be leaving us this Friday (the 10th)
due to maternity leave. I realize that this is incredibly short
notice, but you still have a chance to bid her good luck and farewell.
Being that today is Wednesday, she will
not be in the store, but if you would like to visit her personally,
she will be in on Thursday and Friday
(the 9th and 10th of November respectively) between
10AM and 5PM. If you are otherwise busy, please send any
regards here (until Friday afternoon) or personally here.
Hope, you will be sorely missed, but we
wish to extend our congratulations to you and your husband. We
look forward to seeing you again!
Raise your glasses,
Brendon @ DVD Wave
GET
YOUR MONEY BACK
Have I got news for you! Beginning this
Saturday (October 14th, 2006), DVD Wave is giving every single
one of our visitors a chance to win their money back. Feel free
to make a noise at this point (consider "Wha?", "Buh?",
and "Guh?" if you're out of ideas).
Here's how it works:
Every time you make a purchase, a copy
of your receipt will be placed into a ballot. At the end of the
contest (November 13th, 2006), if your receipt is drawn, you win
the total amount of your purchase up to a maximum of $250 before
taxes. There is no limit to how many receipts you can enter into
the ballot, so the more purchases you make, the more you increase
your odds of winning! Naturally, there are a few stipulations:
- A stamped receipt of each purchase will
go into a ballot*
- Orders placed during this promotion
must be fully prepaid in order to qualify**
- A draw will be held at the store on
November 25th, 2006 at 5:00PM (Note: the ballot itself ends
on the 13th)
- A cheque will be issued to one lucky
winner for the full amount of the winning receipt up to $250.00
before taxes.
* - Wholesale purchases do not qualify
for entry
** - Prepaid orders, if not entirely fulfilled, will be reimbursed
at customer request.
So there you have it. This contest is open
to everyone and as always, on top of this, customers with accounts
are privy to this month's exclusive promotion as defined in our
monthly digital newsletter. Though it's too late to get this month's
newsletter, if you're interested in receiving any future editions,
all you need to do is send us your name, phone number, and email
address. You can do so here.
Good luck,
Brendon @ DVD Wave

Good news for people who could possibly
make a career out of waiting for their favorite titles! The 7th
of November marks some long-awaited releases that many people
will be pleased about.
First off, the first two (of four) new
James Bond sets hits shelves along side the first seasons of both
Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose
Place. It seems that the lockdown on Spelling's drama stable
has been lifted. It's likely that some of the music has changed,
but such as it is, you can still re-experience all the drama as
you remember it.
Also marking that day is the release of
Pixar's Cars (their final film under Disney) and the sixth season
of the Sopranos, but don't forget this upcoming Monday's Mission
Impossible 3! As we move closer to December, you can expect more
excellent titles to be released in succession, like it ought to
always be!
* Correction: Cars was originally intended
to be their final film under Disney, but Pixar has since been
bought by Disney and their upcoming feature, Ratatouille, will
be another Disney title. Sorry for misinforming you.
"I can get you a toe..."

As September draws to a close, several
of us are already moving into Holiday mode. It seems that every
year, the 'beginning' of the Holiday season gets earlier and earlier.
Such as it is, some people are already getting their gifts ready,
but I've got something important to say before all of you go,
"Hey, that's not such a bad idea," and rush out to gobble
up the latest in gagedtry and what have you; then again, I'm sure
there are people out there who are thinking, "What? Already?!"
Regardless, this is some great news for
a Buncha people so if I could kindly have your attention
for a moment - James Bond movies are coming
back to us! For over a year or so, every 007 title has
been discontinued, much to the chagrin of movie collectors everywhere.
Even the most recent Piers Brosnan film has been on the hard-to-get
list, but come November 7th, 2006, the
first two of four James Bond sets will be available with the last
two sets being made available December 12th,
2006. As you can likely guess, all four sets collected
together will run the gamut of the series, perfectly timed for
the upcoming theatrical release of Casino Royale, the very first
James Bond story ever penned by Ian Flemming. It is unknown whether
or not the fourth set will have a slot for Casino Royale, but
this upcoming film does indeed mark the final novel to be made
into a film by the production company. This doesn't mean that
it's never been made (this marks the 3rd time Casino Royale has
been tackled), but rather that the current production company,
EON, has now completed the run of Flemming novels. For more fun
facts about the new film, point your browsers ah-this
way.
Secretly agenting around,
Brendon @ DVD Wave
